Memorial Day 2010

It has been a wet day for us in Lexington! We have been stuck inside our house all day until the rain stopped just a little while ago. However, we made the most of our holiday and took the kids out for some TCBY, rented a movie and now Michael has the kids down at our neighborhood pond fishing.

We got in a lot of grilling time over the weekend and had friends over the last several evenings so our kids could play and we could relax and talk over hotdogs and hamburgers.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day and let's not forget those who fought for our freedom so that we could enjoy these moments together!

The Swagger Wagon

These ads are too funny! Nobody knows how much I can't wait to move out of my mini van into an SUV more than my husband, but watching these videos makes it a little bit more bearable!

It's All About Lexington

Again, I apologize for being so slack and not updating our family blog lately. We have lots of pictures from Ryan's First Communion, Mother's Day, Ryan's Boy Scout banquet and so on but we also have a new project we are trying to get off the ground.

Michael and I were talking one night about the lack of information readily available for Lexington locals. So we are trying to develop a blog site that will remedy some of these issues. We are hoping it will become the go-to place for all upcoming local events and information. It is still in the early developmental phase but I have been trying to get posts published out there so we can start hopefully advertising it to local businesses in the near future.

Take a look here and let me know what you think...

Prayer Request

A couple in our local area, Craig and Crystal Hewitt, lost their 3-year-old little girl and five-year-old little boy in a tragic car accident last summer. I heard on the local Christian radio station that they are now expecting another child. Unfortunately, there a some possible complications with this pregnancy. I was moved to tears when the accident happened last year and can't even begin to imagine losing both of your children in one moment. They are very Godly people from what I hear and truly deserve some happiness. Will you please pray for them and for guidance as they enter another difficult period in their lives?

Lions, Tigers and Bears...

The four kids and I took a school vacation day to visit our local Riverbanks Zoo. It had been a while, maybe a year, since we were last there so the kids enjoyed looking at all of the animals again.

There is nothing like fresh picked strawberries!

Our family made our annual jaunt to the local Strawberry Patch located right outside of Lexington. You can pick your own sweet strawberries (and eat a few along the way) and our kids always seem to enjoy this.

Of course I like to bring along my camera and take pictures!

I know it doesn't look like we are actually picking that many, but I promise - we filled two large baskets full.

We were eating strawberries for several weeks. Luckily my kids LOVE strawberries!

Poor Eden wasn't so into it this year. It's hard when you can't walk or even sit very well on your own.

We might hit up the Strawberry Patch one more time before the season is over and then it is time to get ready for...blueberry picking! Yum!
