Bye-bye gestational diabetes

Today was my week 24 visit to the doctor. They did the follow-up ultrasound to look at the baby's spine since they were not able to see all of it last time. The baby was moving around quite a bit and I was able to see close-ups of his or her little feet and face. Everything looks good though and the baby has been given a clean bill of health so far.

I also had the pleasure of taking another glucose tolerance test to check for gestational diabetes. I passed the test so I am excited that I do not have to go through another round of pricking fingers four times a day and watching my sugar intake day in and day out. And I am thrilled that I did not have to be subjected to the grueling three hour glucose tolerance test that I am convinced is just a way to torture pregnant women. So that is the end of gestational diabetes for me. I don't think I will have to take any more tests from this point on - woo hoo!

I left with a few more ultrasound pictures of the baby. The above profile shot was probably the best of the bunch. I got a couple of just the feet but they are hard to make out and I also have one of the baby's face but it just didn't photograph well when I tried to take a digital picture of it.

I am pleased the baby is developing well and on target. Michael and I need to get on board with the planning of the arrival soon though. We haven't discussed names in any real fashion yet and I know the remainder of the pregnancy is going to whiz by us quickly.

What a fantastic U/S picture! It's so clear! All of mine of my twins were awful!

Congrats on passing your glucose test! Those were the WORST!

Thank you! I was fortunate to have a photo turn out so clear. I remember with my son's ultrasound photos, I couldn't make out anything in the pictures!
